Second Child Syndrome

Postby KapDel » Sat Feb 27, 2010 10:04 pm

Anyone else find the new LO suffering from this?

I think back to all of the things I did with Addison, and it seems like none of them are high priority with Nico. For example, we don't do as much tummy time or practice sitting as much as we did with Addy. I figure he will get it soon enough, why rush it? ;) With Addy, we didn't let her watch tv until she was almost a year. Nico has been an addict since we brought him home from the hospital. Pacis don't get washed quite as urgently (partly because now I have the new fangled snap close ones) The camera doesn't come out quite as often. There isn't quite as many new items that we *have* to have for him.

I know some of it is because we have "lived and learned", but some of it is just pure BTDT with #1, you know? Poor little guy.

Tell me I am not alone and that Nico won't be the only one growing up with the syndrome.

I definitely don't spend as much time worrying about the little things, and I think it's been good for Leo. He has met all of his milestones well before Kelly did. He is very independent, but still a great little cuddle bug.

I have been thinking recently about how great it is to have a second child. For me, it's been very freeing. I am so much more comfortable with my choices, and I'm more comfortable trying new things too. I don't care about what anyone else has to say about how I raise my children. And I really mean it this time. I guess for me. it's just that I have more time to love and cuddle him, because I spend less time with all the little things.

totally second child syndrome here. I remember I had a little book in which I wrote a "letter" for DD about every month for the first year so she will have something when she is older to read about her. Nothing for DS yet. Same with pictures and not to mention toys

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!! I have also spent so much more time just "loving" on Abby as opposed to sitting here STRESSING over every single thing. I stressed really bad w/ Natalie and I'm just enjoying Abigail.

Same here! Evan doesn't get nearly as much one on one attention as Owen did. I still try to do the tummy time and the sitting time, but it doesn't always happen. The TV is almost always on, so I know he's watching that too.
