Gearing up

So what are you guys doing to get ready physically and emotionally?

I still feel a long way off so I haven't actually put a whole lot of thought into it yet. I did find out that my practice has a midwife so I switched to her as my primary. She seemed pretty on par with what I hope for with this delivery. I have an appointment next week to get my big U/S and I'll talk to her some more then and maybe set up a hospital tour. I'm still tossing around the idea of a doula. It really isn't in the budget but it will cost me about the same as the co-pay increase I'll have to pay if I have a c-section so I'm trying to justify it...unfortunately, the mortgage has to come first.

Greg and I are doing hypnobabies again. So we started to read and listen to the CDs again.

My parents will not be at this labor which I think will really help with the no med thing. My mom was there and knew that I did not want meds but seeing me in even a little pain was too much for her and she kept pushing me to get it. So I expect this to be much better with just Greg and I. He is an excellent support.

Beth, go see if you can find a doula in training. I had them with both of my labours.

Stacy, we did hypno with Bodhi. I didn't listen to the CDs during labour, but it was a very good journey for me and healing. I had lots of past issues even before my C section. And I did the relaxation exercise.

A friend of a friend is becoming a doula and I just emailed her tonight so we'll see what fees/services she provides and if she is willing to work with my hospital b/c she isn't very close by.

I spoke to the Doula today and she has packages ranging from $699 to $449 depending on the number of pre-labor visits and if we opt to take the child birth class. It's more reasonable than I originally thought but we had some unexpected bills and I'm not sure we are going to be able to come up with it right now Which stinks b/c I really liked her. I still have about 2 months to decide so I'll keep it in mind.
