I've been debating on whether or not to post here. :) Don't want to jinx myself. BUT my first appt is on Monday! Yay! I should be 8 weeks. Fingers crossed for a healthy, sticky baby.

And congrats Lalala. Hope the time goes by fast! April will be here before you know it!

My first appointment is the 19th. I feel kinda bad because that's my baby girl's birthday, but I'm giving her a sibling so she'll just have to deal! Haha!! I should be 6 weeks then. I'm excited!!

We do need to get more activity here! I was trying to post on PO on the November 2010 board, but I lost my stupid password again, which happened last time, and I am NOT signing up again.

I am in the process of finding a new doctor. We moved back to CA from NY last year and I hadn't found one yet. Always meant to do it before getting pregnant, but it didn't seem to happen.

There is a birthing center here I have heard good things about--I called and left a message last Friday and hadn't heard back so called again today. I am hoping to hear back from them--if not it's not a good sign so I'll have to move on.

I did love my midwives practice in NY-but looking forward to finding a new doctor!

It's always a pain to try and find a new doc. Do you have any friends that could give you a referral? Good luck on your search! Hope you find someone who supports you!

Thanks! I had to do this process twice with our first and it is a pain! Although this is the last time, we're buying a house so I know we're staying put!!

A good friend recommended the birthing center, she's a lactation consultant (score!) and has a lot of good feedback about them. It's basically a big house that has been converted into a birthing center. You do all of your prenatal care there--all blood draws and ultrasounds--which sounds great, with my first I had to go to another location for those. And they have lots of options for labor, pool, doulas, etc. AND, you get to go home as early as 6 hours after giving birth. BUT, they need to call me back!! I am afraid it's not a good sign that they haven't gotten back to me, but I want this to work out.

If not, UCSD has a birthing center as well. I am really interested in a non-hospital birth but am not sure about a home-birth....

the birthing center sounds great!

My first son was born at univ. hospital Ohio State Univ. WHich I really liked b.c we were residents at the time, so that helped ;)

But now we moved out of state, I have asked for referrals from new mommy friends & hopefully I picked a good one.

I myself am trying to figure out where I want my next child to be born. I def. think I want a hospital birth, just b.c we are drs too & I just feel safe there. But I am very interested in hypnobirthing, so maybe I can do it drug free...

I had an epidural & induction with DS which turned out fine, but def. curious about natural birth this time!

I had a natural birth at a hospital with my first--and I always tell people--If I can do, ANYONE can. Honestly, I can be a big wimp and prior to her delivery never really enjoyed pushing myself physically. It changed my entire outlook on my body and what I'm capable of--was the most empowering experience of my life.

What type of medicine do you practice?

We have a birthing center here, and for our first, I looked into it. Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover it, and that's a huge thing. I ended up having a hospital birth with my OB, and I love him, so we'll be going that route again. I also wanted to have a natural birth last time, but ended up having to be induced due to extremely low fluid levels. It was either induce or go on bed rest and I am not a good candidate for bed rest unless I absolutely have to. I was only 4 days from my due date, and she was ready to come, so the labor was relatively short. I did end up having an epi though, because the contractions were so strong I was puking, and I can't stand to puke!! I wonder if I hadn't had to have the pitocin, if I would have been able to do it. I'm going to try again this time!! :)

Ah, I'm so bummed. I called the birthing center I wanted to use and they won't take our insurance!! So the search for a doc continues.

Someday I'll grow up and not take care of shit last minute!

I meet with the OB nurse on April 1st. I'll be 10 weeks, you fill out paperwork, they give you a list of all your appointments, ask and answer a ton of questions, etc.

My first appt with the Ob is the 16th of April. I'll be 12 weeks exactly, really hoping we'll get to hear the heartbeat with doppler :) It's the same ob/gyn that I've had since I was 18. He has done all my surgeries and delivered all my babies so it's super comforting.
